What you really need in double
Not everything needs doubling, but some items simply can't be shared. Both babies each need a car seat, a safe sleeping space once settled, and enough sleeping bags to cope with the laundry.
- Two i-Size car seats, to install as soon as you leave the maternity ward.
- Two sleeping spaces: two cots, or one cot per baby once co-sleeping is no longer possible.
- More bodysuits, sleepsuits and sleeping bags: plan for at least double.
- Two bouncers, very handy for keeping one baby settled while you look after the other.
What can easily be shared
The changing table, bath, baby monitor, play mat or changing bag can be used for both babies. A large play mat and a playpen quickly become essential once the twins start moving around.
The double stroller, the ideal group gift
A double stroller often costs the same as two single ones. It's the perfect gift to give as a group: open up contributions on this item, let grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends each add their share, and the organiser takes care of the purchase.
Specify the model (side by side or tandem), the maximum width that fits through your doors, and compatibility with your car seats.
A registry for your twins, in one link
Create one registry for both, or one per child, and share it easily with the whole family.
One registry or two?
A single shared registry is simplest: your loved ones see all the needs at once. If you're expecting a girl and a boy, or want different clothes for each, you can add several children to the same registry and sort items by baby.
Add the names as soon as you've chosen them: personalised gifts, like embroidered blankets or birth journals, are always a hit.
Think about practical support
With twins, time becomes the most precious resource. Don't hesitate to add items without a link: delivered meals, hours of housekeeping, a night of babysitting from the grandparents, or help with shopping. Your loved ones will be glad to know exactly how to help.
Frequently asked questions
When should you create a baby registry for twins?+
Earlier than for a single baby: twins are often born before term. Start around the fourth or fifth month and share the registry around the sixth month.
